Research

Since I don’t take classes during the summer, I have about three months of time to get as much done in the lab as possible before school demands my attention again. I’ve been on and off the microscope pretty regularly, which makes me very happy. Generally I end up in the lab around 30 hours a week.

Mountain biking

The trails are in great condition, the weather is beautiful, and I am spending far too much time indoors. Some of my friends and I have started going mountain biking regularly again, and I’m really happy that we did. Trying to make this a regular thing, since otherwise I go stir-crazy and don’t move as much as I ought to.

Reading

I started exchanging books and papers with some friends, so I get to sit down with things that other people recommended me. That’s always fun. I usually take the bus to work, so that gives me some time every morning and every afternoon to get through a few chapters. I think I understand why some people like their morning commute.
